Come to the coding camp - an adventure for bright minds
Immerse yourself in the world of programming and discover the exciting technology behind apps, games and web applications! Our coding day camp offers you a fun and educational opportunity to learn the Python programming language – one of the most popular and accessible programming languages in the world.
The camp is right for you if you are a technology enthusiast, aged 9 to 15, and are interested in computer programming – it doesn't matter if you are a beginner or have already gained some experience in programming.
What can you expect?
We work on the following topics in one half of the day:
- Introduction to Python: Playful learning of the basics, such as variables, loops and conditions on our #gamesbased platform
- Interactive exercises: Hands-on projects where you will write your first programs, e.g. simple games, or solve increasingly challenging tasks by creating the right Python code
- Fun and creativity: There are also other exciting challenges such as creating your own game or a mini-app (e.g. chat bot) to develop your problem-solving skills.
- Teamwork and exchange: Programming together promotes team spirit and cooperation with your camp colleagues.
- Support from experienced coaches: Support from experienced programmers who are always on hand to help you with questions and problems and explain the basics.
- Funny Kahoot!s To check your level of knowledge and stand out among all participants
Why Python?
Python is an ideal programming language for beginners as it is easy to learn and yet has a wide range of applications - from web development to artificial intelligence. Children and young people learn an important skill that will not only be useful to them at school, but also in future careers and projects.
The other half of the day continues with lots of fun!
When the weather is nice, we go to the Praterwald forest or our own playground and explore the surrounding area, play soccer and basketball or go geocaching. A trip to the municipal outdoor pool is also planned! If the weather is not so good, we play tennis, table tennis, squash or badminton at the nearby sports center, or watch a cool movie with popcorn!
Lunch
A successful camp day also includes a great lunch! We go to the restaurant in the Gasometer-Entertainment Center together. There is usually an extensive buffet where you can choose soup, main course and dessert to your heart's content. Drinks (raspberry and elderberry juice) are also included! If you have any special dietary requirements, we will be happy to take these into consideration.
Please note that for organizational reasons the morning and afternoon program can be swapped!
On our #gamebased platform, you can work at your own pace - our team of trainers is always on hand to help and advise you!
Level - for beginners
You will definitely be able to take something away from us. Whether you've already had a taste of Python or are just starting out, there's something for everyone! Our #gamebased platform allows you to work at your own pace. Beginners slower, advanced skiers faster - no problem!
Monday - Friday from 09:00 to 16:00
The weekly camp starts every day at 09:00 and lasts until 16:00. Admission starts at 08:30 a.m. with a small breakfast in preparation for a super exciting day! From 12:00 to 13:00 there is a lunch break, with a meal together in the restaurant. From 4:00 p.m., participants can be picked up, or - if desired - go home alone.
Costs and services
The cost of a week's camp is EUR 429.90. Everything is included - from breakfast, snacks, lunch (usually buffet) in the restaurant with drinks to leisure activities, use of laptops, software licenses and server provision costs
Face-to-face lessons on our laptops
The day camp takes place in our 3rd district near U3 station Gasometer. You will be working on a LINUX based computer. Don't worry, LINUX is now very similar to the interface of Windows. You will quickly find your way around and we will be happy to support you in your first steps with LINUX!
Daily routine
In one half of the day you will explore the exciting coding world together with your camp colleagues and our team of trainers - in the other half of the day you will have fun in the fresh air. To the swimming pool, geo caching, playing football or basketball, to the adventure playground. In bad weather, we watch a cool movie with popcorn or go to the Racket-Sport Center.
Drones & 3D Printers
In our large IT room there are also drones and 3D printers that we can try out together. Let your creativity run wild, print out your design and take it home with you. If you want, you can also fly a lap with one of our drones!
Questions & answers about the camp
What is the concrete benefit of the summer camp for me?
You will master new challenges alone or in small teams and constantly develop yourself further. In addition to many tips and tricks, we will explore the levels of our #gamebased platform together. Only if we complete the level with the correct Python code will we progress - this is how we learn a programming language through play! You will be supervised all day by a cool team of trainers.
What happens if I don't understand something or it becomes too boring for me?
We have enough trainers available for you. So there is always the possibility to help you individually, or to go through topics separately or in a small group that may still seem too complex for others. In general, you have the opportunity to work as fast as you want on our platform - but the further you get, the more difficult it becomes 🙂
Is there also play at the holiday camp?
Well, actually you play all the time - we are in the IT half of the day always in the game. The only difference is, to get to the next level, you have to write the right Python code! Can you do it? If not, no problem, you have as many attempts as you like, and our team of trainers will be happy to help you!
Can I use your learning platform from home?
During the camp, you can also reach them from home with your access data! If you want to continue using it beyond that, talk to us, we will surely find a good wag for it!
In our holiday camp we work with the professional #gamebased platform CodeMonkey. This provides us with countless levels - from the very simple Block.Coding (you don't even have to be able to read or write) to the programming of a Chat.Bot - our trainers are always at your side with advice and action, explain the basics, and help you if you get stuck.
Secure your place on the desired date today!
Experience has shown that the camps are already booked intensively at the beginning of the year, and especially after the semester break. Therefore, secure your place in good time - we work in small groups, so places are very limited. Ask your parents to book for you!
