IT & English

Our vacation camps offer much more than just a pastime. We concentrate on topics that are of great importance to children and young people both at school and later in their professional lives. The main focus is on ENGLISH and IT skills in a playful way, but of course there is also plenty of fun to be had – after all, it is the vacations!

Sport & Excursions

Depending on the weather, we plan trips to the Prater, the Feibad or other exciting destinations that are of interest to the children. Our camp location is located directly on the green Vienna Prater, only a pedestrian bridge away, and thus offers an ideal starting point for varied activities and explorations in the area.

IT – Minecraft Holiday Camps:

Depending on your previous knowledge and interests, you can learn the basics with us or decide to deepen your knowledge. Our #gamebased teaching platform is designed to be playful, so learning is combined with a lot of fun and entertainment.

As part of the Minecraft Camps, we focus on the popular game and show that Minecraft is much more than just a game – it’s also a valuable learning tool! Starting with the game basics, we gradually expand the knowledge in the direction of network technology and the LINUX operating system. In the course of the camp, we install a LINUX-based server together, on which the whole camp group can play interactively with each other. In the ADVANCED or PYTHON Camp, it goes into even more detail! Stop by!

This part of the camp is carried out in cooperation with www.digital4kids.at

For children in primary school and lower school, HELEN DORON has developed a varied and playful programme that enables children to learn or deepen the basics of the English language in an age-appropriate way. How do day camps differ from overnight summer camps?

As we only offer one-day vacation camps, we would like to explain the differences here.

Vacation camps for children offer a valuable opportunity to experience adventure, make new friends and develop skills. A basic distinction is made between day camps and vacation camps with overnight stays. Both variants have their advantages and are suitable for different needs and age groups. But what exactly makes the difference?

1. Duration and structure

  • Day camps: A day camp takes place during the day and usually ends in the late afternoon or early evening. The children return home in the evening, eat and sleep in the familiar environment of their family. The daily routine is usually well structured and includes activities such as sports, art, games or excursions.
  • Overnight camps: These camps usually last several days or even weeks, with the children staying on site around the clock. The daily routine is more intensive and, in addition to the daytime activities, also includes evening programs such as campfires, night hikes or game nights.

2. Social interaction

  • Day camps: As the children are only together during the day, interaction is often limited to the time of the activities. The children can get to know each other well, but the depth of the friendships is usually less.
  • Overnight camps: The time spent together around the clock often leads to closer friendships. Shared experiences, such as overcoming homesickness or mastering challenges, promote a strong group feeling.

3. Independence and personal development

  • Day camps: These are particularly suitable for younger children or those who are less experienced in dealing with new environments. Since they return home in the evening, the safety of their familiar environment is maintained.
  • Overnight camps: An overnight camp encourages greater independence as the children learn to find their way in a new environment without the constant presence of their parents. They take responsibility for personal things such as hygiene, sleeping space and time management.

4. Challenges

  • Day camps: They offer a lower inhibition threshold as they cause less separation anxiety. They are also less stressful for parents, as there is no need to organize a longer absence of the children.
  • Overnight camps: Staying overnight can be a challenge at first, especially for younger children. Homesickness and adapting to a new routine are common topics, but at the same time they offer an opportunity to develop resilience.

5. Costs and Organization

  • Day camps: They are usually cheaper as there are no accommodation or additional catering costs. They are also logistically simpler, as no long-term preparations are necessary.
  • Overnight camps: These camps are generally more expensive, as accommodation, meals and more intensive supervision have to be factored in. Parents must also prepare clothing and other personal belongings for the stay.

Result

Day camps and overnight camps both offer valuable experiences, but vary greatly in intensity and the demands placed on children and parents.
Day camps are ideal for younger children or for those who have no previous camp experience.
Overnight camps are perfect for older children or those who are ready to gain more independence and experience more intense adventures.
The choice of the appropriate format should be individually adapted to the needs of the child and the family.
